~If Winter Comes~ hand-silkscreened by Elton Bennett, is quite a unusual and rare piece. His rendering of rain has the flavor of Japanese woodblock artists of the 1800s. Very convincing yet stylized. Conceived and produced in the later sixties, there are probably fewer in circulation than other, earlier titles. This appears to be a humorous piece, with the walrus sitting on the melting ice floe and looking none too happy about the situation. One wonders about the source of his inspiration for this piece. He was stationed partly on the Aleutian Islands during WWII-Do you suppose this was this a common sight?
